| Shiatsu means “finger pressure”. It is a manipulative therapy that originates in Japan, based on the principles of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. The aim is to restore the circulation of the meridians; these are acurately defined pathways through which the energy is transported to every part of the body to nourish it and maintain vitality. An impairment of this circulation is very often the cause of pain.A Shiatsu session takes place fully clothed on a futon or massage couch, the practitioner uses fingers, palms, elbows and knees on specific points along the meridians and takes approximately 1 hour. Several conditions such as; anxiety, stress, depression, insomnia, breathing and digestive problems, menopausal and mestrual disturbances, back and shoulder pain, joint pain, muscle stiffness, respond well to Shiatsu.Orly Barziv is a member of the Shiatsu Society UK.Phone 020 8387 9910 for an appointment. |
